Alma Sana founder to speak at TEDxCornellU: Creating Socially Just and Ecologically Sound Communities
November 12, 2013 (Ithaca, NY)-- The Center for Transformative Action is hosting TEDxCornellU on November 17. In light of Cornell University’s mission as a land grant institution—a university dedicated to enhancing the lives and livelihoods of people in New York State and around the world—this event celebrates the many ways in which knowledge is put to work in pursuit of economic vitality, ecological sustainability and social well-being. Anke Wessels, director of the Center for Transformative Action and co-leader of this event explains, “Our goals in curating this TEDx are to celebrate innovative and transformative approaches to resolving pressing social issues and to provide young change makers with inspiring ideas as well as role models. We hope this event helps lift our collective spirits and offers visionary, yet realistic, steps for action.”
The theme of TEDxCornellU is “Creating socially just and ecologically sound communities.” It will take place in the Barnes Hall Auditorium on Cornell University’s Ithaca, NY campus on November 17, 2013 from 1:00p.m. – 5:00p.m. A reception will follow the event.

TED was founded in 1984. The annual TED conference brings together some of the world’s most fascinating thinkers and doers. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED created a program called TEDx where x signifies that the event is independently organized.
The Center for Transformative Action is an independent nonprofit organization affiliated with Cornell University that provides educational opportunities and fiscal sponsorship to aspiring and experienced social entrepreneurs. It works with change agents of all ages at Cornell, in the Ithaca and Tompkins County communities, and throughout New York State.
